A few months ago, we had covered the Surat chapter of the Akshay Patra Foundation for the same reason for which this blog is being written too. Today, we bring to you a story, driven by similar passion and objective, of eradicating hunger.
A lot of us would have seen the long lines right opposite Ram Chowk temple, people converging there since late morning. For more than half a decade, the Khodiyar foundation has been serving free lunch to the needy, along with a lot of other services, trying to give it back to the people, as much as they can.

The foundation’s principle behind why they are doing what they are doing is very simple. They understand the fact that the wealth that one accumulates during one’s lifetime isn’t supposed to be stashed away, but to be used to bring betterment to anyone and everyone in a positive way. The foundation is backed by a single donor ever since the beginning, being the primary economic force behind making free food, health services and other things available to the ones who really need it. It’s all about doing all that you can, making people smile, because the scales aren’t in our control, but balancing them is, said the dada who was serving food there. One would never miss his smile; broad, inviting and content.

As mentioned earlier, the foundation has been serving free lunch to people, every day for more than half a decade. The menu is seasonal and changes from day to day, week to week, and includes rice, khichdi, roti sabji, dal, farsan etc. depending upon what the season is. Aam ras, khichdi kadi and farsan was on the menu when we visited them. Also, above providing free food to people, the foundation is also involved in providing health services to the needy; all that one needs to do is get in touch with them.

In a world that constantly thrives on getting ahead of each other economically, the foundation stands as a symbol of goodness residing in people, a utopian concept where everybody is being taken care of. Kudos. Cheers. And thank you for spreading your kindness.
