Well, if you have a Kathakali artist licking off the last bits of food off his lips as your logo, there’s very little that could go wrong.
First and foremost, the menu – it’s voluptuous. And, there’s meat. Yes, you heard it right. Unlike a lot of places that have a long list of the same things, and then another long list of the same things under Jain preparations, Anna’s kitchen has a single page – double sided menu, which is less confusing and the food’s pretty rewarding. There’s an elaborate list of doshas a.k.a. dosas, with chicken, mutton, potato and spices as your other major collaborators. There’s egg, along with Chicken Biryani and your regular south Indian dishes like idly sambhar, vada etc.

Because it was a foodoholics group meet, a lot could be ordered (Kudos to Prakash Anandani for being the super-awesome host. There was always food on the table, and he’d always know what to order for the pack. Sweetly done.) On the vegetarian side of things, the Kaaram dosa is an absolute win, the masala dosa was okayish and the regular plain butter dosas were nicely done.
But the real showstoppers are the meat ones. Lemon chicken, Mutton keema and chicken keema dosas were delightful and the butter chicken dosa wasn’t bad at all. All in all, 9 of us had probably two dosas per head and the bill turned up to a little above 200 per head. Abundant red and white chutney served with all of them. NOT A BAD DEAL AT ALL. Also, a few visits and you can make sure that you have covered the entire menu.

Much more persuasion for the people who run it to change it and bring us more of these delights. Due to technical glitches, we were told that the sambhar wasn’t available, but we have been told that it’s just as lip smacking.
Also, we are talking about a food truck here.
The streets are indeed where you’ll find the best food in Surat.
