Street snacks are irresistible for all of us. We can never have enough of them. What drives us head over heels is the Pani Puri or Golgappas. Those fried, crisp puris with hot, mouthwatering stuffing is something that we relish instantly – like a guilty pleasure.

One storm in a cup (in this case – puri) and an appetizing Pani Puri Revolution in the city (as we would call it) was caused by Goswami Panipuri. The venture started 14 years ago and has been consistent in its unique taste and unwavering quality for all these years. Owned by Manoj Goswami , the business runs with the help of his companion Dharmendra Mishra. It started at one of the major areas in town – City Light and the joint is still going strong at the same place after all these years. The joint was started with his own investment and the business turned out to be a big hit. They are known for having flavours like none other in the city. The flavours have a legacy and were originally introduced to him by his grandfather Mr. Sanjay Bharti and this has been their family business for years now.

Every day they are available to offer you delicious Golgappas from 5 to 9 in the evening opposite Corner Point. Upon asking, Manoj explains us that he does all the prep in the afternoon from 2 to 5 o’clock at home. He gets fresh ingredients and runs his magical recipe everyday to dole out these badass pani puris. Quality is something that is of prime importance to him. Manoj says that the flavours they offer are unique and distinctive, the most loved flavours in chronological sequence of popularity being Lasan, Pudina, Jaljeera and Meethi Chatni. The most popular amongst customers is the Lasan flavor and we all have to unanimously agree. These exclusive flavors and the fresh presentation of products is Goswami’s USP.

Goswami offers only 3 products and that leaves us stunned. Other joints offer such variety but can’t make it to the top like Goswami. Apart from pani puri, they serve dahi puri and dry masala puri. Also, the owner tells us that all the leftovers are discarded if left unused. So there is no compromise in the quality and our health. On an average there are minimum 200 customers that visit the joint every day. On a busy day like the weekends they are successful in maintaining the flow and manage to satisfy all. The queue sometimes is so long that it takes about 45 minutes to get your chance to dive into their deliciousness (but it’s worth the wait).

Manoj explains that customers come in big groups from faraway places like Zampa bazaar just to have Golgappas, something that motivates them to keep going. It surely leaves us amazed because what they offer is not offered by anyone in Surat and it is their strength. So if you are having a craving for some lip smacking golgappas and are ready for tongue thrilling experience then stop by Goswami and nothing in this world can stop you from going back again.

Goswami was the best escape from tuition. Fuel up our energy and have a gala time with friends (much needed!). It is amazing to know the positive philosophy Mr. Goswami and Mr. Mishra have for their profession.
