Ruchi Desai embraced her creativity wholeheartedly and started her graphic designing outfit that designed innovative invitation solutions. Her creativity found another outlet that’s cute on the outside and laid back inside — ‘This & That’ is a one stop shop bringing quirky and beautiful gifting solutions for all.

• How and when did it start?

When the idea of this venture came up, Ruchi was already doing graphic designing and printing of various types of invitations, especially for the wedding season under the name of Orbit Graphic Designer. She named it  ‘This & That’ and launched it with a few products on Diwali. It is meant to be an extension, attending to the gifting problems people face during wedding and such events. The refreshing and catchy name, she says, was actually suggested by her sister and although unsure, she went with it. She now showcases quirky accessories to customized return gifts to almost anything and everything. It is a one stop shop for all kinds of gifting solutions.

• What was the motivation behind it?

The project in itself is really close to her heart and she believes that it is the only thing that gives her the spirited kick every morning and boost the creative bee within her. Being a different take on ingenuity and a complete new thing compared to what she has been doing all these years, it inspires her to keep going.

• Challenges faced:

Coming up with an unprecedented idea in the city like Surat, it was initially a challenge to project her work in a way that people take it seriously. But this led her to give more than 100% to simply get ‘This & That’ going, which in turn brings out the best in her work.

• On the parting note she says:

Surat has started witnessing a fresh breeze of ideas and Gen Y is very creative and talented. Hence, she believes that the youth have it in them to change the mindset of the conventional consumers, give them new outlook and adapt to changes.
