He flits effortlessly between various gadgets sitting calmly behind his large white desk. Munching his way through a plate full of seasonal veg crunchies (he’s a health freak) while fixing his detox appointments (he is a health freak) and managing his running schedule (he is a health freak), there is a mind constantly crunching numbers, making business strategy and executing it with an astute hand.
Kunjbihari Sultania is the name and brain behind Durga Processors and Durga Polysters. Working from the age of 16 under his father’s able guidance, Mr. Sultania started his career at 1986 in Patna. His family business was into distilling wax from oil and later on into trading, transportation and processing of different types of waxes with a vast customer base across the country. Very early in his career, Mr. Sultania learnt to be nimble and adaptive. “Change with times” he says. Times were changing and so were the government policies. When processing wax became unproductive in India and the industry was still struggling with what the solution could be, he took the unconventional decision of importing wax from from Iran.
Durga Processor was conceptualized and effectuated in Surat in a span on 92 days and today it is one of the leading textile processing firms in the country. An early adaptor of technology, Mr. Sultania believes that adapting new ways and technologies in any business is as important as making more profits. He believes in hiring freshers/ young talent since the inception years, as the young blood according to him – is keener, faster and vehement in any aspect of work and that’s what helps any company grow.
“Love what you do”, this may sound a little cliche, but that’s the mantra he has always followed. His tenacious efforts, dedication and honesty has played a prime role in his success. Learning is a never ending process and Mr. Sultania has adhered to this. He believes he has learnt something new each day from each and every individual he meets.
His Golden Words – “There is always a hidden opportunity in every challenge. There is nothing like a challenge or a setback. In every challenging situation there is a hidden opportunity. Be positive and success will follow.”
