From our very own city we are back with another fascinating story of visionaries and artists.
Sonam & Sapan: Tap-In with the “Dancing Duo”

It is said that although, anybody can dance but not all can do it on beat and rhythm. Tap-in is that trendsetter that holds the magic to alter this saying. It can make anybody dance and grooves like an expert. This is the hard earned reputation that Sapan and Sonam build through their Tap-In dance studio.
- How and when did it start?
Sapan worked as an instructor in Ganesh Acharya academy in Surat and that’s when the idea of Tap-In, tapped in his mind. He had already worked with many prominent choreographers as instructor, before he thought of working for himself. So he started, Tap-In in 2010, with a small dance studio that only comprised single class, back then at Ram Chowk, under the management of his now wife, then friend Sonam.
Sapan being a passionate dancer himself, have never ran for money, he wants his students to prosper in terms of the talent they have and for the same belief he sometimes trains his students without even charging them, especially those who have that spark within and can’t pay the fees. Sonam affirms that she herself learnt a lot with Sapan in terms of management and would have never known her management skills if not for Tap-In. She proudly says that they both complement each other in every way and make a perfect life partner for each other.

- What was the motivation behind him?
He boasts of having great legacy of students who have made it big in the dancing industry and that give him utmost pride and honor. He claims of having the biggest dance studio in Surat, where he trains people from all age groups in varied dance forms (well, even the names we never heard of). He have worked day in and day out to make Tap-In what it is today, a dance studio which started with 3 students and have lost count of the dancers who have been dancing on his tunes now.
- Challenges faced:
The difficult challenge so far was to choreograph the kids of deaf and dumb school and the specially abled children.
- Future Plans:
When Sonam was asked to say something about Sapan and Tap-In she said that Sapan aims in raising the level of dance in our city and give this talent, the respect and pride that it deserves. Sapan’s eyes glittered when he talked about his progress and said that name any celebrity visiting Surat, it’s only Tap-In who have been performing in front of them and also work FOR them.

They together on the parting note said: Life is all about experiences, if one is keen and passionate about what one wants in life, God will never let it go unseen and He shall shower his blessings sooner or later.
